Bank of America Partners with Feeding America to Help Fight Hunger in Metro Detroit

Bank of America is once again partnering with Feeding America to support Forgotten Harvest and Gleaners Community Food Bank

In Southeast Michigan alone, one in six people, and one in five children, struggle with hunger. Many of these individuals are hard working adults who often have to choose between paying utility bills, providing school supplies or putting food on the table for their family.

According to the U.S. Census Bureau, 39.3 percent of Detroit residents currently live at or below the poverty line. Notably, this number is 23.9 percent higher than the national average.

To help fight these statistics, Bank of America and Feeding America partner each year through the Give A Meal program to provide healthy meals to families across the nation. Give A Meal provides funding and matching gifts to local food banks while raising awareness of the impact hunger has on our neighbors every day. In 2014 alone, Give A Meal created more than 45 million meals nationally.

While the Give A Meal campaign is on-going, Bank of America matches donations September through December, considered the β€˜hunger months’, when families are increasingly vulnerable. For every $1 donated, Bank of America will donate $2 more.

Bank of America and Feeding America continue to support local food banks and work tirelessly to end hunger in communities across the nation. For more information on the Give A Meal program and for ways to donate, visit Help.FeedingAmerica.org.
