Parolee Lasts A Couple of Days on Outside Before Suspicious 'Test Drive'

Chesterfield Township police allege Peter Labreck took car for a test drive and used it as a getaway car in credit union heist.

A Michigan parolee didn’t last too long on the outside.

Chesterfield Township police said Peter Labreck, who was paroled from federal prison on Monday, took a later-model Ford Fusion for a test drive Thursday.

Police said he returned it to the Clinton Township dealership, according to a Detroit Free Press report, but not before he allegedly used it as a getaway car after robbing the Genisys Credit Union, 49682 Gratiot, of an undisclosed amount of money.

Police were waiting for Labreck at the dealership. A witness took note of the dealer plate hanging from the rear of the car, and provided a description of the make and model to authorities.

It doesn’t appear Labreck spent any of the money during the half hour he had the car.

Labreck, 44, is back behind bars again after his arraignment in 42-2 District Court in New Baltimore Friday on bank robbery charges. He’s being held in the Macomb County Jail on a $400,000 bond.

A habitual offender with a lengthy fraud record, he could get life in prison, the report said.
