Bites Nearby: Great Mexican Cuisine in Novi

With Cinco de Mayo just around the corner, diners looking for somewhere festive to celebrate or just wanting to enjoy tasty Mexican food any time. there is La Herradura in Novi.

On the corner of the West Market Square plaza, this restaurant, which just opened a few months ago, has several rooms as well as a bar. The décor is unique and brightly colored and the food is tasty and authentic.

The menu is expansive at La Herradura and as an avid Mexican food fan, for me, it's all about the beans. They are well pureed here with a good flavor. Chips and salsa are also a barometer for a return visit and they have a good crunch, a good corn base and are complimentary with your meal. On my several visits here, they gladly refill the chips and salsa which has a rich tomato base and is not too spicy.

There are dozens of entrees to choose from and you can begin your meal with an order of guacamole for $2.49 or choose from tacos to tamales as well as burritos and quesadillas. There are salads including a taco salad for $7.99 and seafood including the camarones ala diabla that includes 20 shrimp with rice, beans and three flour tortillas for $12.25. The especialidades of the house include a t-bone steak and shrimp that comes with rice, refried beans and guacamole salad for $15.99.

There is a children's menu all priced at $4.50 and dessert with choices such as flan, deep fried ice cream and sopapillas.

La Herradura in Novi is open on Monday-Thursday 11 a.m. to 9:30pm, Friday 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., Saturday 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. and Sunday 11:30 a.m. to 9 p.m.
