Bottled Water Spill Nearly Foils Randy Brock Concert in Northville

One man and a piece of aluminum foil saves the Randy Brock Group concert from an early end.

The Randy Brock Group, a blues rock band with members living in Northville, played the Friday night concert this week in Northville's town square.

By the end of the first set, the audience was so large that people were finding seats in the median of Main Street and the opposing sidewalk. During the intermission, the band's lead singer and guitarist, Randy Brock, spilled a bottle of water on his guitar amp causing a fuse to blow and possibly ruining the rest of the show.

Coming to the band's rescue was Jim Fraser, a Novi resident and mechanic by trade. Fraser is a friend of Brock's and was in the audience Friday listening to the concert when the incident happened. Fraser approached the stage to find a solution – and he did. He wrapped a piece of aluminum foil around the glass tube fuse, connecting the electrical circuit on the outside of the fuse and saving the concert from an early end.

The band immediately started the second set and prompting standing ovations for the first song that followed, which of course was dedicated to Jim Fraser.
