Celebrity Pets of Northville Gives Four-Legged Friends Good Health and Luxury
Grand opening marks seven months in business in downtown Northville and expansion.
Looking for faux-diamond studded charms or a baby carriage for your dog or cat? If so, look no further than Celebrity Pets in downtown Northville.
The store – located at 124 N. Center Street – held its grand opening event this weekend. Even though the store has been in business for seven months and recently expanded into the former Northville Candles and Gifts location, the store’s owner wanted to re-introduce the location to Northville, which she considers to be one of the most dog-friendly communities in Wayne County.
“We wanted to do this when the weather was nice, so people could come in and check us out with their dogs,” said Rose Misiolek, who also owns a Celebrity Pets at Laurel Park Place in Livonia.

“We came here because our customers asked us to,” she added. “There are a lot of walkers in the community – we want them to get an ice cream down the street, then come in for some frozen yogurt for their dog.”
Celebrity Pets is exactly what the name implies: an exclusive one-stop shop for the pampered cat or dog. The store sells sportswear and formal wear for both dogs and cats, as well as bejeweled leashes or name charms, fancy biscotti-like treats, healthy foods, fashionable carrying cases and even strollers.

“We have items that are for the comfort of the pet that cannot be found at a place like PetSmart,” said Linda Sheppard, a consultant that works with Misiolek. “There’s a lot of research into everything that is purchased – with the health of an animal in mind.”
Organic pet foods – those that are free of fillers – are plentiful in the store. Misiolek said higher quality foods mimic what an animal would eat in the wild. “Animals don’t eat filler in the world, they eat protein.”
Everything in Celebrity Pets is meant to make pets comfortable, Misiolek said.
“Here, animals aren’t animals,” she said. “They’re members of the family.”
