Evelyn Longmire

An article about a special friendship formed between Evelyn Longmire, Helena Bazzi, and Riley Huggins

The story of our new friend Evelyn Longmire began on September 29, 1945 in Washington D.C. Evie is a bold woman that has had ups and downs in her life, but finding Jesus helped her push through. Evie only wishes she found Him sooner. She was raised with an older brother and sister and guiding parents, making her childhood one to remember. During her youth, she enjoyed many activities, but her favorite would have to be playing flute in her high school marching band. One of the many interesting things we found out about Evie is for prom, she wore the dress from the cover of Seventeen Magazine. Another event that impacted Evie’s life was Girl Scouts, with the help of her mother as the troop leader. Evie had many jobs during her high school career such as working at Kelly Services getting paid $3 an hour. The most interesting thing we found about Evelyn was her relationship with her belated husband Chuck. While they were singing in the choir at church, Chuck started flirtatiously raising his eyebrows at her. They had this “eyebrow relationship” for several weeks, until they finally started to talk and get to know one another. Her fondest memory was marrying Chuck and spending a happy life together. Evelyn’s advice for young people of today is that we all need to understand that we all have a purpose in life. We are so glad that we got the opportunity to sit down and talk to our new friend Evie, and hope to see her soon.
