Interview With Karen Brehm

by Riley Huggins

While conducting my interviews, I got to know Karen Brehm. She enlightened me on her wonderful childhood. Karen was born on September 29, 1942 in Beloit, Wisconsin. She was born into a Christian family with loving parents and two brothers, one older and one younger. Karen and the rest of her family have always been very involved in the church; her dad was Sunday School Superintendent, and her mom the church organizer. This has shaped her to be the person she is today. She enjoyed singing in the church choir, knitting, and needlework. Karen also told me about her best adventure. She flew to New York to meet up with her older brother and see the World’s Fair. Then, they hopped on a plane to Switzerland to begin their European vacation. Karen and her brother ended up visiting five countries throughout their trip. Her favorite destination was Rome, where they saw the magnificent historical Coliseum and the Sistine Chapel with Michelangelo’s painting of the Last Judgment. Karen’s advice to young people today is to make sure to keep Christ in their heart whatever may happen. I’m so glad I had the experience to sit down and talk with Karen about her life.
