Novi Middle School FTC Teams compete at States

Novi Robotics (NBot) is proud of our five Novi Middle School FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Teams for their performances at the East Michigan State Championship event held Saturday December 15 at Discovery Middle School in Canton Michigan.

Team 6134, Black Frogs, qualified as one of two teams to represent Michigan at the FIRST World Championship Event to be held in St Louis Missouri April 24-27 2013. At the World Championship event, the Black Frogs will compete with 128 of the best FTC teams from around the world for top robot and team awards. This is the second consecutive year that a Novi team has advanced to the FTC World Championship.
The next opportunity to see the Novi FTC teams in action will be at the FIRST Robotics Challenge (FRC) season kickoff event hosted by the Novi High School's FRC team Frog Force 503. The FRC kickoff event is January 5th from 8am to 3pm at Novi High School.

At FTC events, robots compete in randomly selected two team alliances during qualifying matches. After qualifying, the top 4 teams pick their alliance partners to compete in best 2 of 3 elimination matches.

Teams are also interviews by a panel of judges for the Inspire, Think, Connect, Motivate, PTC Design, Rockwell Collins Innovate and Judges awards. These awards recognize outstanding performance in various aspects of the FTC program. The highest FTC award, Inspire, is presented to the team that best represents FTC by their robot performance, community outreach, engineering, and gracious professionalism.

FTC is part of the FIRST family of programs that promotes STEM education from 1st thru 12th grades in the Junior FIRST Lego League (Jr. FLL), FIRST LEGO League (FLL), FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) and FIRST Robotics Challenge (FRC).
