The Detroit Catholic Central Shamrocks wrestling team advance to the Division 1 MHSAA Team Wrestling Quarterfinals in Battle Creek by defeating an up and coming Walled Lake Central 52-13 in the Regional Final this past Wednesday. The Shamrocks advanced to the Regional Final by posting a 77-3 victory over Waterford Kettering while WLC defeated Livonia Stevenson 56-9 to advance. Quarterfinal matchups will be announced by the MHSAA at 6PM Sunday February 16th. The action begins in Battle Creek at 3:15PM on Friday February 21st. The winners will advance to the Semifinals at 9:30AM on Saturday with the Finals being held later that day at 4PM.
The Shamrocks also advanced 10 wrestlers to the MHSAA Individual Wrestling Final Tournament to be held at The Palace of Auburn Hills beginning February 27th. The Shamrocks have 6 Champions, 1 Runner Up and 3 Third Place finishers coming out of the Regional Tournament held yesterday at Walled Lake Northern. Led by Coach Mitch Hancock the Catholic Central Wrestlers advancing are seniors Malik Amine, Nick Bennett, Drew Garcia, Greg Johnson, Parker O’Brien, Jimmy Russell, and Evan Toth. Joining the senior leaders are juniors Myles Amine, Nick Giese, and Trevor Zdebski.
