Catholic Central Wrestlers Dominate Oakland County Tournament
The Shamrocks follow the motto 'records are made to be broken'.
Catholic Central (CC) wrestlers showcased their depth of talent en route to setting multiple records at the Oakland County Tournament this past weekend.
The Shamrocks' tournament records set during the 57th annual event included 10 Finalists, eight champions, 375.5 Points and a 124.5 point differential. The combined effort resulted in a team victory with 375.5 points. Oxford, the host team for the well-run event, finished in second place, with 243 points.
The Shamrocks' sophomore duo of Evan Toth (119) and Malik Amine (135) repeated their success from last year and each won a second consecutive county championship. Not to be outshone by the underclassmen, senior captain Alec Mooradian (152) won his fourth consecutive county championship. Mooradian is only the third wrestler to achieve this elite status in the event's history.

Joining the collection of champions for the Shamrocks were first-time champions Trevor Zdebski (103), Myles Amine (112), Ken Bade (130), Logan Marcicki (145), and Drew Garcia (171). Riley Hanson (140) and Kevin Beazley (189) each had a great tournament run by making the championship final, but fell just short and finished as runners-up in two hard-fought pairings.
Also placing for the Shamrocks were Nick Mason (160), TJ Fagan (125), and Bob Coe (Hwt.).

The wrestlers also traveled to Rockford this week and defeated 2nd-ranked Division 4 Hesperia (48-22) and 10th-ranked Division 1 foe Rockford (53-4). The wins advance the Shamrocks' record to 10-0 on the season. Always driven to improve, CC wrestlers will spend the holiday break preparing to compete in the Medina (OH) Invitational Tournament after Christmas and at Oxford shortly after the New Year.
