Crime Report: Man Arrested on Intoxication Charges; Building Lights Damaged

Man Arrested on Intoxication Charges

A 49-year-old man was arrested June 18 on charges of operating while intoxicated and open intoxication after hitting a car on Eight Mile Road, according to a police report.

The man in the other car said he was driving westbound on Eight Mile Road in the right lane when a car in the left lane attempted to turn right onto Meadowbrook Road and hit his vehicle, the report said.

Northville Police stopped both cars at Eight Mile Road and Center Street and called on the because the accident occurred in Novi. According to the police report, the man arrested had an blood-alcohol content of 0.118, above the legal limit of 0.08. Police found an open glass container of Four Loko, an alcoholic beverage, in the center console and a plastic bottle with beer in the front.

Building Lights Damaged, Car Vandalized

Three landscape lights were damaged overnight June 14 at a building on Grand River Avenue. The building manager called police to report the estimated $1,000 in damage when she arrived at work in the morning of June 15. According to the police report, a blue Nissan parked near the back entrance to the building was also vandalized; its windshield wipers were broken, and there were scratches all over the hood and side windows. The building does not have any security cameras, and the manager did not know who caused the damage, the report said.

House Window Damaged

A woman on Roberts Road reported finding a metal pellet lodged between two panes of glass in her house's front window. The pellet left a hole in the window, which the owner said she will need to replace for an estimated $400, a police report said. The damage occurred sometime between 8 p.m. June 18 and 6 p.m. June 19, the report said. The case was closed pending any new investigative leads.
