Howell Man Faces Heroin Possession Charge After Novi Road Traffic Stop

The following information was supplied by the Novi Police Department. Arrests and charges do not indicate a conviction.

A Howell man faces a charge of heroin possession after Novi police stopped his vehicle at Novi Road and I-96 shortly before 11:30 p.m. Monday.

According to the report, an officer checked the vehicle's license plate and noted the registered owner had a license suspension and outstanding Michigan State Police warrant. Inside the vehicle, the officer saw an improvised paper straw and small plastic bags, both typical of narcotics use.

The report indicated that a search of the driver turned up a small plastic bag containing heroin that was concealed in a package of cigarettes. The man told police the cigarettes didn't belong to him and that someone had given them to him.
