I have been using infrared saunas for over two years now. I was NOT a fan of saunas or heat in general when I first tried an infrared sauna. I grew up in a home that had a sauna and a hot tub but almost never used them because I just couldn't tolerate them for more than a few minutes and found the experience unpleasant.
I was not very impressed with my first infrared sauna experience because I did not sweat very much but I found it very tolerable compared to the other saunas and hot tubs I had been in. Since it was tolerable I decided to try it again the next day and was AMAZED at how quickly and how much I sweated. I was sold!
I average using the saunas three or four days a week and my sessions will range from 20 to 40 minutes. I have LOST 40 lbs and have not put any back on. I thought I would gain 10 to 15 lbs last holiday season because I gorged more than I usually do but I gained NOTHING! Not to say that someone else would have the same exact experience but I believe the use of the saunas on a regular basis keeps my metabolism high and my body at a healthy weight.
The other main BENEFIT that I've noticed is a combination of being pain free and flexible. I never had much pain besides the little nagging pains that occur every once in a while but since I've been using the saunas regularly I don't even get those anymore.
My skin is softer, I sleep better and I am more relaxed as well.
Obviously, I highly recommend using infrared saunas. If you can't get to MI Sweats there are other places with them. They seem to be popping up all around us lately!
