The jury has returned a verdict in the first-degree murder trial of Peter Gerard Jones.

Oakland County Jurors were barely out for an hour Friday before they convicted Peter Gerard Jones of first-degree felony murder in the Jan. 13 of his elderly Novi neighbor, 84-year-old Bernice Schaufele, the Detroit Free Press reports.

Jones, 47, an ex con, was accused of strangling and stabbing Schaufele during a Jan. 13 robbery of cash and jewelry to fund his crack-cocaine habit. Police followed his bloody footprints
