Novi Police Follow Up on Anonymous Report of Children Left in Vehicle
Officers responded after a caller said two small children were left in a running vehicle parked at West Oaks II.

plan to speak with the registered owner of a black Lincoln, after an anonymous tipster reported two children were left in the car around 6 p.m. today.
According to Chief David Molloy, the caller told police the vehicle was parked and running in front of a store at West Oaks II shopping center.
"By the time the officers got there, the vehicle was gone," Molloy said. "We have a license plate and we're going to follow up with the registered owner."

However, he added, without a witness, "it will be difficult to secure charges."
Novi, along with all of southeast Michigan, is under an Excessive Heat Warning through 8 p.m. Saturday. According to the National Weather Service, the temperature at 6 p.m. today was around 98.
