• Severe storms leave almost 280,000 without power Thursday night (detroitnews.com) — Severe storms this week knocked out power for hundreds of thousands across southeast Michigan and briefly disrupted the Michigan State Fair at Novi's Suburban Collection Showplace, sending fairgoers to shelter indoors. Crews from DTE and Consumers are steadily restoring electricity, with most customers expected to be back online by the end of the weekend as officials continue assessing damage and confirming tornado activity.
