Shamrocks Send 9 Grapplers to State Finals; Two Wildcats Advance

Catholic Central claims six regional titles Saturday in Saline.

Detroit Catholic Central will send nine wrestlers to the state finals after Saturday's regionals in Saline.

The Shamrocks' Malik Amine (135), Alec Mooradian (152), Drew Garcia (171), Kevin Beazley (189), Trevor Zbedski (103) and T.J. Fagan (125) each claimed regional titles, while Nick Mason (189, third place), Bob Coe (285, second place) and Myles Amine (112, fourth place) also will advance.

Novi's Jake Dobras (171, fourth place) and Jimi Keller (285, third place) also will advance.

Here's a look at how the Novi-area wrestlers advanced:

  • Malik Amine defeated Canton's Alec Pantaleo in the 135 finals.
  • Mooradian beat Westland John Glenn's Travis Mann in the 152 finals.
  • Garcia defeated Northville's Trevor Maresh at 171.
  • Beazley claimed victory over Southgate Anderson's Devon Bronson at 189.
  • Zbedski beat Westland John Glenn's Kyle Gillies at 103.
  • Fagan defeated Lincoln Park's Jake Jones at 125.
  • Mason defeated Salem's Tyler Gross in the 160 consolation for a third-place win.
  • Novi's Dobras fell to Westland John Glenn's Danny Croft in the 171 consolation, finishing fourth.
  • Coe fell to Temperance Bedford's Logan Rimmer in the 285 final for a second-place finish.
  • Novi's Keller defeated Livonia Churchill's Manny Haddad in the 285 consolation for a third-place finish.
  • Myles Amine fell to Canton's Ben Griffin in the 112 consolation, finishing fourth.
