Thieves Take Electronics from Locked Vehicles in Novi

Owners report GPS and stereo systems, a laptop computer, sunglasses and cash missing from vehicles last week.

Two Novi residents last week reported thefts of electronics from their Chrysler Town and Country vans.

According to reports filed with Novi Police Department, vehicles parked on Fireside Court and Solomon Boulevard were both entered some time after 9 p.m. on March 12. The thefts of in-dash stereo and navigation systems were discovered on March 13. According to the reports, both vehicles were locked. In one of the incident reports, police noted a tool was used to destroy the door handle and gain access to the vehicle. 

A Canton resident who owns a Jaguar called police on March 12, after covers and an adaptive cruise control sensor turned up missing after his vehicle was serviced at Jaguar of Novi. According to the report, the man noticed the adaptive cruise control system wasn't working right as he drove his vehicle home following a routine service visit on March 8. The report indicated that the man contacted the dealership, and no one there knew anything about the missing parts.
