5 Things To Know This Week in Oakland Township and Lake Orion
Get the scoop on what's happening July 29-Aug. 4 around town, including library programs and baseball try-outs.

1. Gardening for kids: The Rochester Hills Museum at Van Hoosen Farm is continuing to offer its Terrific Tuesdays in the Garden this week. The event will provide children with the opportunity to learn the basics of gardening. Classes, $3 for members and $5 for non-members, are limited and pre-registration is required. Call 248.656.4663 to do so.
2. Players needed: Jim Keaser posted on Rochester Patch that The Oakland Iron Pigs are looking for experienced players. If interested, meet behind VanHoosen Middle School on the Rochester Adams Varsity Softball field at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday. The Iron Pigs are part of AAA NOBF Baseball.
3. Dork Diaries: There still is time to register for Thursdays 2 p.m. event at Orion Township Public Library. If you are a fan of the "Dork Diaries," this party is for you.
There will be treats, games and prizes.
4. Summer reading: There still is time to register for the Rochester Hills Public Library summer reading program, which ends Aug. 10. www.rhpl.org/summerreading for details.
5. Weather forecast: Cooler temperatures will continue throughout the week, with a high of 70, a low of 53 and a chance of showers forecast Monday, according to the National Weather Service.
