• 4-year-old loses part of leg in lawnmower accident: 'A lot of surgeries' (kptv.com) — A Lake Orion family is reeling after 4-year-old Brielle Thompson lost part of her leg in a lawnmower accident while visiting Minnesota, and she now faces multiple surgeries as doctors work to save her knee. Her parents remain out of state during her treatment, while relatives back home have launched a GoFundMe and say the Lake Orion community's support and their faith are helping them cope.
   

• Steven Alker spoils Block party to win Ally Challenge in Grand Blanc (detroitnews.com) — Lake Orion gets a small but notable shoutout at this year's Ally Challenge in Grand Blanc, where pro George McNeill's caddie was Lake Orion native and former PGA Tour player Tom Gillis. New Zealander Steven Alker ultimately surged with four straight birdies to win the tournament, edging out a crowded field that included Michael Block, Retief Goosen, and Stewart Cink.
