Kroger Invites Community to Orion Township and Independence Township Store Grand Re-openings

Customers will find a new look and a convenient new layout at both the Orion Township and Independence Township Kroger stores, which will celebrate grand re-openings on Wednesday, May 16. Both the Orion Township store, located at 3097 South Baldwin Road, and the Independence Township store, located at 5990 Sashabaw Road, invite the community to join them in the celebrations. The first 300 customers to arrive at each store will receive a free reusable grocery bag and a $10 Kroger gift card.

Shoppers will notice several new store features and upgraded departments at both Kroger stores, including the updates for each store listed below.

Orion Township Store Updates

The newly renovated store boasts updates to several store departments, including new bakery and wine departments. The store also includes a relocated sushi bar, as well as new flooring, cheerful décor and additional check lanes to ease the checkout process. Added energy efficient features include LED lighting in the walk-in coolers.

“The Orion Township Kroger has been remodeled to enhance the customer experience for convenience and product selection,” said Karen Vargo, Orion Township Kroger store manager. “The store updates allow Kroger to conveniently offer quality products to people who may have a limited time to shop.”

An olive bar, cheese island and hot soup station are now located in the expanded deli and bakery. The store also features an expanded produce selection and enhanced Natural Foods section with natural products from soy milk and soup to cereal and salad dressing, to offer a wider selection of healthy, natural foods to its customers.

Shoppers may also utilize the in-store pharmacy, which gives customers the convenience to fill prescriptions seven days a week.

The Orion Township Kroger is open 6 a.m. to midnight, seven days a week.  The Kroger Pharmacy is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday.

Independence Township Store Updates

The recently updated Kroger store features a new bakery department and enhanced floral, produce, Natural Foods, and meat and seafood sections. The store also added new shopping carts and handicap carts, as well as a bright, cheerful décor. The store has upgraded its dairy and frozen food departments, and a wine beverage area has been added to the store.

New additions to the expanded deli and bakery include a sandwich, salad, and hot soup bar, as well as olive selections. Also, the store has upgraded its lighting, including energy-efficient LED lights for walk-in coolers.

“We renovated the Independence Township store to offer a more convenient store layout in an updated, attractive environment,” said Blaine Tweed, Independence Township Kroger store manager. “We’ve added additional check lanes and U-Scans for faster checkout, and upgraded departments to create a more enjoyable shopping experience for our customers.”

This Kroger store also features a pharmacy. Kroger pharmacies offer a wide variety of medications, including hundreds of generic prescriptions to offer savings and convenience to customers.

The Independence Township Kroger is open 6 a.m. to 1 a.m., seven days a week.  The Kroger Pharmacy is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Friday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday; and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Sunday.
