Couple Killed, 2 Hurt In Oakland County Crash: Sheriff

Investigators do not believe alcohol, drugs or speed were factors in the crash.

ORION TOWNSHIP, MI — Two people were killed and two others were injured in a head-on crash in Oakland County over the weekend, according to the sheriff's office.

The crash happened at 1:11 p.m. Saturday near Lapeer and Greenshield roads in Orion Township, officials said.

Officials said a 63-year-old Hazel Park man was driving a 2015 Ford Fiesta north on Lapeer Road when he lost control.

The car drove off the road and through a median before entering the southbound lanes where it struck a 2011 Lincoln MKX head-on, officials said.

The Lincoln driver, Alfred Henry Young, 86, of Rochester Hills, was taken to a nearby hospital where he died from his injuries, officials said.

His wife, Florence Anna Young, who was a passenger inside the SUV, was also taken to a nearby hospital where she died hours later, officials said.

The Fiesta driver and his wife, a 60-year-old resident of Hazel Park, suffered critical injuries in the crash and were taken to a nearby hospital, officials said.

Investigators do not believe alcohol, drugs or speed were factors in the crash and are unsure why the Fiesta driver left the roadway.

Officials were still investigating the crash.
