Oakland Township Historic District Commission in collaboration with Oakland Township Historical Society would like to invite you to a Fifteen Star Flag raising
ceremony to commemorate the Bicentennial of the adoption of the Declaration of War, signed by President James Madison on June 18, 1812.
The Flag raising ceremony is on June 18, 2012 at 6:30 pm at the site of the flag pole at Cranberry Lake Farm Historic District located at 388 West Predmore Road in Oakland Township. The ceremony includes a Presentation of Colors, Flag raising, Pledge of Allegiance, historical comments, and a live performance of the “Star Spangled Banner” by Lorrie Garrison. The program will run
approximately thirty to sixty minutes.
Come on out to learn about the War of 1812, where conventional land and naval battles were fought within Michigan boundaries on the banks of the River Raisin – Remember the Raisin? Feel free to bring a picnic to have with your family for this fun, educational program.
Food and non-alcoholic beverages are permitted. Parking is available just west of the historic farmstead located on the north side of Predmore Road. The Fifteen Star Flag Raising Ceremony is planned rain or shine. The main house has a covered porch in case of inclement weather.
