Oakland Township Voters Agree to Fund Historic District for 10 More Years

Oakland Township voters agreed to renew the Historic District Commission operating millage in Tuesday's primary.

The proposal passed with a sizable margin, earning more than 66 percent of the 3,643 votes, according to unofficial results from the Oakland County Clerk Tuesday night.

With all the precincts reporting and absentee ballots counted, about two-thirds of Oakland Township voters voted in support of continuing the millage for another 10 years.

The millage would comprise "11.7 cents per $1,000 of taxable value on all taxable property in the township," according to the ballot. The money would go toward the operation, upkeep of and renovations to historic buildings in Oakland Township.
