Lake Orion Marching Band Takes 5th at State Finals in Detroit
The Lake Orion marching band competed in the 2011 MCBA Championship on Saturday, earning 5th place in their flight, which included 12 schools.
The placed fifth Saturday at the 2011 Michigan Competing Band Association (MCBA) Championship, which brought 48 bands from across Michigan to Ford Field in Detroit to compete in the annual event.
The band's theme for the competition was "Femme Fatale." It was the tenth consecutive appearance at the state finals; last year, they also placed fifth.
Bands were divided into four flights, with each flight containing 12 performances. An awards ceremony took place after each flight and each band received either a plaque or a trophy, depending on their place.

Trophies were also given for best music, best effect and best marching. Thousands of family members and fans streamed into Ford Field throughout the day to cheer on their school and watch some of the best marching in Michigan.
