Lake Orion Seniors Commended as ‘the Brightest’ at Honors Convocation
Lake Orion High School's outstanding seniors were recognized at an Honors Convocation on Monday.
Students from the Class of 2012 were commended Monday night at an Honors Convocation for their achievements throughout high school.
Lake Orion High School teacher Tom Romito set the tone for the evening with an anecdote about how the students that complete extra assignments in classes to attain more points are the ones who do not need the points. These students, he explained, are the ones being recognized at the ceremony. They go above and beyond what is expected.
Included in the presentation were scholarships, awards, and graduation cords, stoles and medallions. Several students earned scholarships from various branches of the U.S. Armed Forces, while others received scholarships from elementary or middle schools within the district. Students who maintained good grades while being stellar athletes were applauded, along with those students who completed their high school careers with a 3.3 grade point average (GPA) or above.
