Berwick Elected President of School Board; New Members Take Oaths

Jennifer Berwick will serve as president of the Board of Education this year after being unanimously elected at a special meeting Wednesday night.

Berwick replaces outgoing president Barb Cenko, whose term ended in December. Other officers are Beth Talbert, vice president; Chuck Coutteau, secretary; and Lisa Nowak, treasurer.

The officer elections followed the swearing in of new board members and , who were elected to six-year terms in November. Talbert, who was re-elected in November, was also sworn in.

A handful of visitors were in the audience for the meeting.

New staff member hired

Elizabeth Davis, executive director of human resources for RCS, recommended the hiring of . Davis noted that they received 19 applications for the position and narrowed the candidates down to three before deciding on Romzek.

“After careful thought and consideration I am very pleased to recommend to you the appointment of Daniel Romzek,” Davis said.

Romzek was the Director of Finance & Operations for Davison Community Schools.

“I am very excited and very honored to be accepted for this position,” Romzek said.
