My husband Dan and I had some time to kill before meeting our friends for dinner in Lake Orion. We were casually walking around their quaint downtown area when we stumbled upon 51 North Brewery.
As we walked through their patio into the spacious bar, Dan and I both thought the same thing…”this is the perfect neighborhood spot.” Once we sat down and looked around, we realized our intuition was spot on! 51 North has mug club memberships, open mic night, live bands and a fabulous menu of Michigan craft beers – all designed to keep people coming back. They even have their own t-shirts!
It’s right on the corner of Shadbolt St. and there is plenty of street parking available.

Because we stumbled upon this little gem unexpectedly, we only had time for a beer – but this place was so enjoyable, I couldn’t pass up telling you about it! They had a great drink menu, which ranged from $5-$8, with TONS of beer options and they even had mead!
This place is simply decorated, comfortable and welcoming. The bar area is spacious with large garage doors that open up to the patio. They even have a small stage for their live music. It’s the kind of spot you would feel comfortable hanging out at all night long.
