If you have not been attending Oakland Township Board of Trustees’ Meetings; OT Residents really need to become engaged. The word that may come to mind is – “BIZARRE”. Here is another interesting turn of events on something as simple as Agenda Items.
At the September, 10th BOT meeting; the following occurred:

Supervisor Gonser: “Are there any amendments, changes or additions to the agenda?”
Trustee Keyes: “Yes, I’d like to add some items and I’d like them to be listed as item 16, a discussion of the Orion Bridge. I’d like to add 17, a discussion of the Voorhees interviews and for #19, I’d like to add the, excuse me, 18, the appointments of the committee to the Marshview connector parking lot.”

Supervisor Gonser: “Any other changes or additions? When you say ‘16’ I presume you mean, pre..”
Trustee Keyes: “To add these as 16, 17, 18, and then push the citizen comments to 19.”
Two of three Agenda items failed to be added by motions. However, #18 passed and was added to the Agenda.
At 296:52 minutes a motion was made to appoint 2 trustees, Supervisor Gonser, along with Mr. Creech as representatives to the Marshview Connector parking lot sub-committee.
Motion was made by Treasurer Langlois, seconded by Bailey. Motion was voted on and approved, unanimously.
No Big Issue – Correct? Well, not so fast. Another Trustee decided to add an Agenda item a mere two weeks later at the September 24th BOT Meeting. A Motion was made and passed unanimously to add the Agenda item. However, when the item actually came to the floor - here is Trustee Keyes’ view on that -
9/24/2013 BOT Meeting at 84:49 minutes:
Regarding Treasurer Langlois motion to issue a public apology from the BOT for the unfounded accusations of ZBA appointment Mr. Markel:
Trustee Keyes: “The Board is not supposed to be making – adding – agenda items that require a vote! That does not give appropriate notice to the citizens and residents to hear this before a motion is made and is voted on, and that is improper, and that is all I have to say.”
So which is it? The best that this resident can tell is if the Agenda item is proposed by Trustee Keyes – it is alright to do and for the remaining 6 elected officials – No such Luck!
