Fireworks displays make summertime ‘unforgettable' at this Lake Michigan beach town (mlive.com) — Pentwater’s beloved Fourth of July and Homecoming fireworks are at risk without additional community support, and the chamber is trying to raise $30,000 to keep both shows going. With dates set for July 3 and August 15, organizers say rising costs make every donation important and are inviting residents to give online or by mailing or dropping off checks in town.

3. Car jumper taken to hospital (oceanacountypress.com) — Emergency crews responded on June 1 after a Pentwater man was seen jumping onto vehicles and lying in the roadway on Business Route US 31 near the Wishing Well convenience store. He was taken to a hospital with apparent road rash, and no motorists were reported injured, though officials urged extreme caution for drivers in that area.

Hart and Shelby-Benona crews handled the call, and officials say it followed standard county protocol to summon three departments for any reported structure fire.
