18-Year-old Man Facing Charges After Threatening To Shoot People At MI Elementary School: Police
Police said the threats were made just as classes were being dismissed.
ANN ARBOR, MI — An 18-year-old man is facing charges after threatening to shoot people at a Michigan elementary school last Friday, according to police.
Police said the threats were directed at Haisley Elementary School in Ann Arbor just as classes were being dismissed at 4 p.m. last Friday, according to police.
School officials immediately called police after the threat was made, but the teen had left the school grounds, according to police.

Officers then searched the teen's home but did not find any firearms, according to police.
Police said officers also worked with Community Mental Health, which developed an immediate plan to get the person coordinated resources. He was placed at a medical facility for treatment, according to police.

Investigators said he acted alone.
Prosecutors charged the teen with one count of making terroristic threats, a felony with a maximum 20-year prison sentence and one count of making school threats, a one-year misdemeanor with a maximum one-year sentence.
He was given a $250,000 bond with a GPS tether excluding him from Haisley School if he is released.
Police said there is no ongoing threat to students or staff and the school remains a safe place for learning.
