30 Booted From Hotel After Ruckus Over Waffle
The situation was as sticky as say, maple syrup, when about 30 guests took sides in a fight over who got to eat a waffle.
An argument over a waffle erupted into a major ruckus among about 30 guests at a Michigan hotel over the holiday weekend – and the eventual eviction of the group, who hailed from Canton, MI, and Chicago.
The trouble started brewing about 9 a.m. Sunday when one woman asked another if the waffle maker was free in the self-serve breakfast nook at America’s Best Value Inn, 5095 U.S. 10, in Pere Marquette Township.

Receiving no answer, the second woman proceeded to cook her waffle. When it was done, the first woman claimed she was entitled to eat it because the other woman had bumped in line. They began arguing over rights to the waffle, and “it went downhill from there,” Mason County Sheriff Kim Cole told The Muskegon Chronicle/MLive.com.

By the time hotel management arrived, about 30 guests had taken a side in the waffle dispute, Cole said.
“There was just a lot of yelling and screaming, but no one was assaulted,” Cole said.
Even so, the hotel management wasn’t waffling on what needed to be done.
All 30 guests were ordered to pack their bags and get out, and a Mason County deputy remained on the scene to ensure the eviction went smoothly.
