LIVONIA, MI — A suspected Livonia home burglar was arrested on Saturday, according to police.
The arrest comes in the case when the man was seen trying to enter a home in the area of Bristol Court and Newburgh Road on May 13 while wearing a hazmat suit, Fox 2 Detroit reported.
The homeowner’s daughter told the news outlet she was coming home from work and saw a man trying to undo the gate. She also noticed he had a screwdriver in his hand and pressed the emergency button on her cellphone. The man then grabbed the neckline of her shirt and pushed her backward before fleeing the backyard.
The next day, another Livonia resident told police they saw a similar masked man wearing a white hazmat-style suit. The man then threatened the homeowner before running away, CBS News reported.
Police said investigators worked "tirelessly over the past several weeks to identify and apprehend the suspect."
"Their commitment, persistence, and collaborative efforts were instrumental in bringing this investigation to a successful resolution," according to police.
Police did not identify the suspect and said more information will be available pending formal charges by the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office.
