BREAKING: Wayne City Hall on Lockdown Due to Gunman in Area
Wayne-Westland schools are on precautionary status.

WAYNE, MI – Wayne City Hall is on lockdown as a precaution due to a situation involving a barricaded gunman on Ash Street near Wayne Road, WDIV-TV is reporting.
Wayne-Westland schools aren’t on lockdown, but have been placed in a precautionary state, school officials told the TV station.
“City hall is in very close proximity to where the gunman is barricaded in his home,” City Manager Lisa Nocerini told The Detroit News. “Right across River Rouge.”

The man’s sister and mother initially were inside the home but escaped unharmed, The Detroit News reported.
City hall and other municipal offices were locked down by 10:30 a.m., the city manager said. Closed offices include the courts and public works department.

“We responded quickly,” Nocerini said. “We’re not letting people in or out and there is no access right now on Wayne Road, from Sims Street to Ash.”
