With a special state election scheduled in May, Canton residents have started to receive absentee ballot applications in the mail this week, according to a HometownLife report.
Take a look at a numerical breakdown that examines Canton absentee ballots, the election and the state sales tax proposal voters are deciding, according to the report.

- 1.2 billion: Dollars the increased state sales tax would raise yearly for road and bridge repairs.
- 300 million: Dollars the increased state sales tax would raise yearly for Michigan elementary, middle and high schools.

Applications for absentee voting can be found on the township’s website, as well as the state’s website. They also can be picked up at the Canton Township clerk’s office, 1150 S. Canton Center.
