Canton Among Southeast Michigan Towns Getting Upgraded 4G LTE

AT&T makes improvements in nearly 60 communities.

AT&T has upgraded its wireless network within southeast Michigan. The improvements include adding greater capacity or bandwidth and speeds to nearly 60 cell towers within Oakland, Macomb, Wayne, Livingston, Genesee and Washtenaw counties.

Canton is among five communities getting additional 4G LTE capacity improvements. Oak Grove, Emmett, Detroit and Woodhaven are the others.

Another 53 communities received bandwidth upgrades, including Ann Arbor, Flint, Dearborn and Detroit.

These upgrades are like adding more lanes to a highway carrying traffic from a customer’s device to the cell tower, resulting in faster speeds.

“Our Michigan employees are focused on bringing a better mobile experience to southeast Michigan and across the state. Our investment in the local wireless network is one way we’re accomplishing that,” said Jim Murray, president, AT&T Michigan.
