Canton Family Child Care License Suspended Amid Abuse Allegations
State officials received a complaint on Oct. 6 that resulted in a "high-risk special investigation."
PLYMOUTH-CANTON, MI — State officials said Thursday they suspended a Canton child care home facility's license due allegations of child abuse.
The Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Child Care Licensing Bureau investigated Vagula Aroulselvam, who ran the child care home in the 45000 block of Thornhill Court in Canton Township, officials said.
The Bureau received a complaint on Oct. 6 that resulted in the initiation of a “high-risk special investigation,” officials said.

Officials defined the “high-risk special investigation” as meeting one of the following conditions:

- Child abuse or child neglect was the suspected cause of a child’s death.
- A child was the victim of suspected sexual abuse or sexual exploitation.
- Child abuse or child neglect resulted in severe physical injury to a child.
State officials said they concluded their investigation on Oct. 7 and issued a notice of intent to revoke the license.
Aroulselvam can no longer accept children and must notify the parents for all the children she cared for that her license has been suspended.
An administrative hearing will be scheduled before an administrative law judge with the Michigan Office of Administrative Hearings and Rules.
