Canton Resident Allegedly Pulls Gun on Car Repo Man

Police found a BB-gun at the scene, but worker thinks the upset vehicle owner also brandished a semiautomatic pistol.

CANTON, MI – Canton police are investigating whether a man allegedly pulled a BB-gun or a semi-automatic handgun on a worker who was repossessing his vehicle about 2 p.m. Friday.

The worker who reported the incident, which occurred at a residence on Beck, north of Hanford, told Canton police no shots were fired. Police found a BB-gun at the scene, The Canton Observer reports, but the repo man told authorities he thought the man had a semiautomatic pistol as well.

The vehicle owner, 48, allegedly confronted the 27-year-old worker twice, the first time with a weapon he pulled from his pajama pants, and the second time with the BB-gun police recovered. The worker said he pushed the vehicle owner to the ground before hitching the vehicle to the tow truck.

The vehicle owner, who has a pistol registered in his name, faces criminal charges in connection with the incident. Police discovered in a background check that he had unrelated warrants for his arrest, according to the report.
