Parents and their children looking to experience hockey for the first time are invited to Compuware Arena on Sunday, Jan. 4 for “Try Hockey For Free”, an event sponsored by USA Hockey in association with Compuware Arena, the Plymouth Whalers and the Detroit Red Wings Foundation.

“Try Hockey For Free” runs Sunday from 1:00-2:00 pm at Compuware Arena, located at 14900 N. Beck Road in Plymouth Township. Call Compuware Arena at (734) 453-8400.

The premise is simple – parents and their children report to Compuware Arena and children will be provided with all equipment and ice time, free of charge, in order to experience skating and the nuances of hockey for the first time.

Members of the Plymouth Whalers will be on hand to assist children with their equipment and then take them on the ice for one-on-one instruction. Later in the hour, the children will participate in a loosely played, fun scrimmage, along with the Whalers.
