Into the Woods-Stephen Sondheim Musical

Spotlight Players presents the Broadway smash “Into the Woods,” with music and lyrics by the legendary Stephen Sondheim, 1 week-end left! Fri. April 27 to Sun. April 29, 2012. Directed by Canton Educatior Shannon McNutt, this charming musical brings your favorite fairy tales to life in the state-of-the-art, beautiful Village Theater at Cherry Hill in Canton. The Baker’s Wife, Christine Kapusky Moore says:

“Into The Woods” intertwines the plots of several Brothers’ Grimm fairy tales with an original story of a childless Baker and his Wife, who set the plot in motion by attempting to reverse a curse on their family in order to have a child. Written by James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim, the musical begins innocently as a simple wish for each of the characters in “Into the Woods” that sends them on a journey that changes them forever. The characters do not all find a “happily ever after” ending...or at least not the one they imagined they would have at the start of the story.

Christine Kapusky Moore of Canton plays The Baker’s Wife. She says:

“Who doesn't like a good fairy tale? ‘Into the Woods’ centers around Little Red Riding Hood, Cinderella, Rapunzel, and Jack and the Beanstalk. This is one of Sondheim's most well known musicals – its imaginative plot and brilliant music can be appreciated by children from 5 to 95! Go to the wood!”

“The story is absolutely captivating in the way that all of these familiar Grimm's Fairy Tales are woven together and jumbled up to create a wild new super fairy tale. As all fairy tales do, this one has a lesson to take away about our responsibility to our community - our actions, no matter how small, have an effect on those around us in some way that may or may not be immediately known to us.”
