Gas Leak Causes Evacuation in Downtown Plymouth

Gas line repaired quickly in late Tuesday incident; all was back to normal within two hours.

(Posted Nov. 16, 2016) PLYMOUTH, MI — A gas leak in downtown Plymouth around 4:20 p.m. Tuesday afternoon caused a quick shutdown of businesses, but all was repaired and back to normal fairly quickly, The Plymouth Observer reports. The downtown area was also evacuated after a contractor hit a three-inch gas line, but streets reopened around 6 p.m. Downtown Development Director Tony Bruscato told The Observer the evacuation was orderly. "Anytime you are walking around and can smell gas, you certainly are concerned," he said.
