Watch the Ontario Hockey League’s Plymouth Whalers at Compuware Arena on any given night and there is a win or loss after regulation time, overtime or a shootout.
There are other positive success stories around the Whalers and Compuware Arena away from the ice that impact the community even more.

Doctors Jeffrey and Stephanie Jaghab own Northville Cosmetic Dentistry at 416 S. Main Street in Northville. While they provide an essential service in a caring, family-oriented environment, they also found a way to give back to the local community they love.

“We live 2 miles from the office,” said Jeffrey Jaghab. “We can walk to downtown Northville from our house with our kids. People know us and wave out of their cars. Living here is like small-town America and it’s perfect for us.”
The Whalers and Compuware Arena provided the connection for the Jaghabs to reach out to the community.
Since 2009, the Jaghabs have been part of the Plymouth Whalers Adopt-A-School program. In the program, local businesses buy ticket vouchers and donate them to schools, giving children of all ages and their parents a chance to go to Plymouth Whalers games.
“We have always supported the school system,” Jeffrey Jaghab said. “It is part of what makes Northville so great.”
The Jaghabs have four children - Peter (12), Hannah (10), Alexander (9) and Samantha (8).
After supporting their children’s specific schools over the years through the Adopt-a-School Program, the Jaghabs upped the ante this season in a big way. They adopted every school in the Northville system.
“Our kids all go to Northville schools and they love the Whalers,” Jaghab said. “We have had parents thanking us for the tickets, because they had so much fun. People really enjoy the games. It’s close to home, safe and comfortable.
”In the past, we did the Whalers’ Adopt-A-School for our children’s elementary school (Moraine Elementary School) and middle school (Hillside) but this year we decided to do the same for all the schools here in Northville.”
The Whalers are pitching in the help the Jaghabs to reach their goal. Member of the Plymouth Whalers staff hit the streets of Northville this week to assist Drs. Jaghab in the distribution of the vouchers to each principal at each adopted school.
While family and community are important to Jeffrey and Stephanie Jaghab, their Whalers Adopt-A-School commitment started several years ago with an alumni connection.
“Compuware Arena is the home ice for Detroit Catholic Central hockey,” said Jeffrey Jaghab. “I’m a 1987 graduate of Catholic Central. I like the fact that Compuware Arena is the home for CC. CC alumni all stick together. My time going there left a lasting mark – it was a great place and great experience.
“One thing led to another – I wanted to have a (advertising) dasher board on our home arena and we started a relationship with a lot of good people at Compuware Arena. So we did the Adapt –A-School program with a dasher and it was really nice. We take our family to the Whalers all the time and have a great time. “
The Jaghabs believe in the Northville community that has supported them over the years.
“Compuware Arena, the Whalers and our dental office are very similar – we all give back to the community as much as we can,” Jaghab said. “Northville has been very good to us and we’re very happy to be here.”
The Whalers are looking for other business to get involved with their Adopt-A-School Program.
