Interfaith Youth Group completes another Successful community service Project

The Plymouth-Canton Interfaith Community Outreach Youth Group (ICO) completed another successful community service project together.  The youth put together packets for volunteers for the upcoming Relay for Life walks and assembled toiletry packages for incoming families at the Wayne County family shelter.  The youth and their families not only shared serving their communities together, but they also learned about how much they had in common.  The youth represented members from Canton Balagokulam, Geneva Presbyterian Church, Hindu Temple of Canton, Muslim Community of Western Suburbs, Canton-Singh and Plymouth-Falls Gurdwara.

Our next community service project is on April 26 at Gleaners in Detroit, where the youth will be assembling food packages for hunger. Please contact us at plymouthcantonico@yahoo.com if you would like to join us and make friends with youth from other faiths and cultures in your community.

The Interfaith Community Outreach group consists of a group of faiths and citizens that have come together for a common goal of hope, faith, building bridges and serving the community together.  Some of the events that the group has participated in, are food and clothing drives, September 11, 2011 memorial at the Canton Mosque, Interfaith Health Care Fair at Geneva Presbyterian, youth movie nights and community service projects.  We hope you enjoy our informational blogs about our community faiths.  If you have any questions, or would like to have your congregation join, please let us know.
