The Johnson Controls Automotive Seating global leadership team, led by Beda Bolzenius, vice president and president Automotive Experience and vice chairman Johnson Controls Asia pacific, recently met in Detroit, MI and participated in a community involvement project the Build-A-Bike Team Building Workshop.®
The group was divided into teams to solve challenges in order to build bicycles for young children from the Boll Family YMCA in Detroit. For many of these children, this was the first bike they have ever owned.
“This was a great opportunity for the Automotive Seating leadership team to work together while also supporting our community,” said Byron Foster, group vice president and general manager Customer Groups and Strategy for Automotive Seating.

The team built two girls’ and two boys’ bikes. The girls were sisters in foster care who had to walk nine miles round-trip each day from their home to the YMCA day camp. The family couldn’t afford bus fare so walking was the only alternative. With the bikes donated by Johnson Controls, the girls can now ride to the YMCA and save hours in their day.
