Tornado Rips Through Metro Detroit: Flips Hayride Trailer, Damages Barn
The tornado touched down with winds up to 100 miles per hour and tore through parts of Wayne County on Saturday, forecasters said.
WAYNE COUNTY, MI — Forecasters confirmed a tornado touched down in Wayne County on Saturday.
The EF-1 tornado touched down at 5:46 p.m. just south of Martz Road between Rawsonville Road and Hoeft Road in the Willis area, according to the National Weather Service.
The tornado was roughly 200 yards wide with maximum winds up to 100 miles per hour, the weather service said.

It first flipped a hayride trailer as the tornado moved northeast toward Hull Road, the weather service said.
Multiple trees were uprooted, telephone poles snapped and a large barn wall was blown out in the area of Hull Road, between Elwell and Bak roads, the weather service said.

The tornado then crossed Sumpter Road, bringing down more tree limbs and power lines, the weather service said.
It finally lifted at 5:50 p.m. near Savage Road in Belleville, the weather service said.
