Pair Accused of Brandishing Gun at Canton Rest Stop Worker
Police didn't say what sparked the argument with the rest stop maintenance worker, or why suspect chased him with a gun.

CANTON, MI — Two people were taken into custody last week after allegedly brandishing a handgun during an argument with a maintenance worker at an Interstate 275 rest area near Cherry Hill, Canton Police said. The pair left before shots were fired, but they were quickly apprehended by Canton police.
Tony James Wielkopolan, 28, of Garden City, and Cheyenne Rae Allard, 25, of Westland, were charged Sunday with assault with a dangerous weapon, a four-year felony; felony firearm, a mandatory two-year felony; a concealed weapon violation, a five-year felony; and a misdemeanor marijuana charge, The Canton Observer reported.
Canton police Sgt. Dan Traylor said Allard got a gun from a vehicle and gave it to Wielkopolan as he fought with the maintenance worker. Wielkopolan then chased the suspect, but the confrontation ended without gunfire, Traylor said.
