Plymouth Plans to Approve Budget After Public Hearing Tonight

City's spending plan for next fiscal year is $20.3 million.

The Plymouth City Commission is slated to accept a $20.3 million spending plan when its 2012-13 budget comes up for a vote tonight at , 201 S. Main St., according to the Plymouth Observer.

There will be a public hearing on the budget at tonight's meeting. There were three since the plan was presented in early April, the report said. The new fiscal year begins July 1 for the city.

According to the report, Mayor Dan Dwyer saidΒ  the budget doesn't dip into the city's fund balance β€” about $1.58 million β€” or cash reserve.

The city found savings with its with the City of Northville; About $743,120 was budgeted for fire services next year, down from $845,000 a year ago, the report said. However, the city was not able to find funds to add two police officers at a cost of about $200,000, as city officials had hoped to do, the report said.

Tonight's meeting begins at 7 p.m. A public hearing also will be held to revoke the liquor license for the bar and restaurant.
