Plymouth Police ID Man Who Placed Fake Cameras Near Ballot Box: Cops

PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP, MI — Plymouth Township Police said they have identified the man whom they believe may have tried to intimidate voters by placing fake cameras on a light pole near a drop box outside a Plymouth Township voting station.

Police said once their investigation is complete, they will give their findings to the Michigan Attorney's General Office for any decision on possible charges.

"Plymouth Township Police department is committed to ensuring safety and integrity of the election process and will thoroughly investigate all possible complaints related to the voting process," Plymouth Township Police Chief James Knittel said.
The fake cameras, which worked like a motion detector, flashed when someone walked up to the drop box outside Risen Christ Lutheran Church, 46250 Ann Arbor Road, according to police.

Police believe the fake cameras were placed on the light poles sometime between Feb. 17 and 25, which were the township's nine days of early voting for Michigan's U.S. Presidential Primary, according to police.
Anyone with information about the person who installed devices at Risen Christ Lutheran Church was asked to call the Plymouth Township Police Department at 734-354-3250.
