Plymouth Township Clerk Joe Bridgman Files Election Recount Petition
Opponent Nancy Conzelman beat Bridgman by eight votes in Tuesday's primary.

Plymouth Township Clerk , who in the Republican primary race to by eight votes on Tuesday, has filed a petition for a recount with Wayne County.
"With such a small margin, I want to ensure that all votes were processed accurately," Bridgman said.
Bridgman said he filed the petition Friday evening and is now waiting to hear back from the county for a timeframe of when the recount will take place.

Conzelman could not be reached for comment Saturday afternoon, but told the Plymouth Observer that she was "surprised" by the petition.
“It surprises me that he has called the entire election into question and is requesting to have the entire canvass recounted, and as clerk, he was responsible for the conduct of this election,” Conzelman told the Observer.

The winner of the clerk's race in the Republican primary will likely win the general election as there are no Democratic opponents.
According to Bridgman, his opponent in the 2008 primary, May Ann Prchlik, filed for a recount after she lost to Bridgman by 150 votes.
"I haven't seen anything this close in my time as clerk," Bridgman said. "We need to ensure this is accurate."
