Watch: Live Construction of Roundabout at 14 Mile and Orchard Lake Roads

Camera in work zone of roundabout project at the West Bloomfield and Farmington Hills border captures new pictures every 15 minutes.

If you’re wondering how roundabout construction is progressing the on the roundabout at the intersection of 14 Mile and Orchard Lake roads on the West Bloomfield and Farmington HIlls border, you don’t have to drive to the work zone.

Instead, you can click right to it. The images update every 15 minutes on the Road Commission of Oakland County website, according to a news release. Site visitors can also view a time-lapse series of all the photos taken at 15-minute intervals since the camera was installed on April 9.

Additionally, RCOC will produce a two-minute video compilation of the photos at the end of the project that will allow viewers to see the process from beginning to end.

“This is our largest project this year and a pretty large project by anybody’s standards,” said RCOC Managing Director Dennis Kolar. “This camera provides a way for both Road Commission staff and the public to follow the progress at this highly anticipated project.”

Kolar added the Road Commission is often asked about the status of a project, and this allows people to see that in real time.

“We’re also often asked how projects like this occur,” he said. “Through this camera, people will be able to see each step in the process and how it is done. The camera is really an educational tool.”
